Rescue Me ID: 17-06-30-00061ZUNA (female)

Skye Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Zuna is a 25 pound, Skye terrier mix. She's a medium energy girl who is house trained and walks well on a leash but doesn't use a crate. She's actually an excellent walker. She knows sit and she will come when called. Zuna is also a lover of the fetch game, and she likes to follow foster mom around the yard. Zuna has lived with cats and would be fine with a dog savvy one. She is not good with children and kids who were high school aged would probably be the age she would do well with. She seems to do well with dogs who are about her same energy level. Dogs with a higher energy can make her react. She is a joyful, playful, well behaved girl, ... (Read More)but she does have her likes and dislikes. Zuna would enjoy a quiet home with dogs that shared her energy level and people who enjoyed the company of a friendly canine. Rescue Me ID: 17-06-30-00059Dana (female)

Flat-Coated Retriever Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Dana is a beautiful 40 pound retriever mix. She was listed as a one year old, and from what the foster parents initially observed, did not appear to have had much structure or guidance.Dana is a smart girl, and so eager to learn and please, which has made her time at the foster home extremely productive and gratifying.Nothing makes Dana happier then to have a job; she's all focus. She is a high energy pup who is up for any adventure and will do best with daily exercise. She loves a good game of fetch, and has been enjoying her daily swims in the river. She can tend to be highly excitable, so working and talking with her in a calming manner is ... (Read More)key. With that being said, she has made great progress in calming herself. A good bone, or squeaky toy for her to put her attention has helped. Due to Dana's energy, excitability, and strength levels, her foster parents are not thinking cats or young children are a good match for her at this time. But she has been around some older, respectful, dog savvy children, and just loves the attention. She does very well in her crate, using it at night and when she is left alone. Dana is currently residing with a 9 year old Golden Retriever, and they get along fine. Dana would most likely do best with other dogs who enjoy playing. With lower energy pups, she would need more careful introductions, as not all dogs will appreciate her joyful exuberance! Dana will grab shoes or socks for attention. Dana is working on 'leaving it,' and has made good progress. Dana is an affectionate pup who enjoys a good rub down, snuggle, or belly scratch and who loves the attention that goes with it. Day by day, Dana continues to grow into her full potential. With consistent guidance, boundaries, and direction from a confident leader, Dana will thrive and continue on to be her very best self and a wonderful companion. Rescue Me ID: 17-06-30-00058Karma (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Looking for an active canine companion who is just as keen on walking for miles as she is on snuggling up with her people? Meet Karma, a beautiful reddish-brown 60 pound Boxer/Pit mix who has great house manners, enjoys the company of other dogs, and is always seeking to please her human. She is approximately 2 years young, has been spayed, is up to date on her vaccinations, and will be micro-chipped prior to her adoption. Karma arrived in foster care at the very end of March and has since stolen many hearts, both young and old. She looks to spend her days near her person by cuddling up at one's feet or on a dog bed nearby. She is crate ... (Read More)trained, potty trained, knows basic commands, and understands 'settle' in those moments when she is creeping toward excitability. It is because she is a strong girl and can easily excite if the energy in her home is high, that we are asking that families with children younger than 10 not consider her, as she can easily and inadvertently knock a child over and/or jump up if the environment isn't promoting calm. Karma enjoys the company of her three fur foster siblings and seems more relaxed when they are nearby so we are seeking to place her with a family who has at least one friendly and well-mannered dog. She is quite the athlete and jumper so low fenced in properties would not contain her in those moments when she spots squirrels, birds, and other small creatures that prey driven dogs want to hunt/chase. It is this strong prey drive in Karma that forbids her from living with cats, but small dogs with the right temperament are not an issue for her currently because one of her foster fur siblings is a 10 pound chi/dachshund mix. Karma can be timid when meeting new people, therefore, consistent leadership will be an important part of her daily living. She walks on leash (she is not an off-leash/dog park dog) at one's knee with confidence and responds well to the 'leave it' command if she sees prey and/or other dogs who are approaching while out and about. If you are looking for a big hearted, sensitive, dog loving, and athletic companion, and would like to meet Karma, please go to www.pottersangelsrescue.org to fill out an application. Rescue Me ID: 17-06-30-00056BOOMER (male)

Shar-Pei Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

'Boomer has a beautiful prancy trot, that screams happiness and is so flashy! He does so well just being a low key guy. He is submissive with other dogs and easily will roll over and show his belly to prove it. He is so respectful and even though all his four legged friends hop on to the couches and love seat, he has not once even attempted it. A gentle guy with manners! He happily will go into his crate on his own, and often can be found there at night even though he is able to move about the house. We want to find the most perfect and loving person or family who will provide Boomer with the medical care needed for hopefully a longer ... (Read More)life, and nothing but the best love and care for him. A true King, and he deserves nothing more than to be treated like one.' Boomer's foster mom has nothing but wonderful things to say about Boomer. He's a 50 pound, 3-4 year old, Shar Pei mix who is low energy. He's house trained and crate trained and walks well on leash. He's good with all dogs and cats and enjoys the company of young children. He's a quiet guy and a lover of affection. He knows sit, wait, crate, and no. He's just about as good as they come, but Boomer has medical problems that could bring his life to a quick end. He has Blockage in his heart in his left ventricle. This could be a sudden death, at any point, or it could be a problem that the blockage will slowly increase in size over time, causing other side effects, such as retaining fluids in lungs, lethargy, etc. Boomer also has entropion of his eyes, which is where the skin is folding in, therefore making his hair rub his eyes. Seemingly healthy otherwise, there is no predictable outcome or time line of his heart condition. It is pretty severe, so likely he will need a home willing to put him on heart medication that will help with longevity. This medication is fairly affordable. His potential adopter will be completely informed and put in contact with Boomer's vet at Veremedy to fully understand the medical problems, and what his future may look like.' If you'd be willing to give a great dog a loving home to live out his days, we'd love to talk to you! Due to his medical conditions, Boomer's adoption fee has been waived. Rescue Me ID: 17-06-30-00055HARPO (male)

Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Harpo is a gorgeous, silky furred collie/spaniel mix who adores the outdoors and is a truly fantastic hiking companion. He is 4 years old and weighs 55 pounds. Harpo is one of those dogs who has a medium energy temperament, unless he is placed in a highly energized or overly excited environment. He is like a sponge, soaking up the energy from the place he is in. In his foster home, Harpo has done very well. He has learned to walk on a prong collar (when used properly this is an excellent tool, and we will happily show you what proper use looks like). He is house trained and crate trained. He is actually a great lover of his crate, and this ... (Read More)is encouraged through the giving of treats and goodies when he goes in. He is not loud or aggressive. Harpo needs a home with older children since the young ones tend to be too high energy for him. He really does need a calm living situation that will encourage him to be his best self. He lives with cats and other dogs in his foster home, and he does well with them all. Harpo can be mouthy, but he is never aggressive. Foster mom describes him as being affectionate, playful, and well behaved. His foster mom has trained him to run on the treadmill, and he enjoys a good hour of running indoors every day. Harpo is beautiful and very smart, and we can't wait to see what his forever home will teach this handsome boy! Rescue Me ID: 17-06-30-00054Neeley (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Neeley. Neeley is a 35lb 8 month-old female Pit-mix. She is spayed, vaccinated and micro-chipped. And, Neeley is on a roll! You may not guess when you meet her, but Neeley was a frightened pup when she first entered her Vermont foster home. Initially she startled at any noise or movement. Neeley had to be introduced to balls and other toys, and the entire concept of 'play.' Well, Neeley is a quick study . . . So now, she is working on learning to regulate her desire to play. Her foster people have an older dog and they are careful to separate the two when Neeley becomes overly excited. She is still experiencing what it means to be a ... (Read More)puppy. But, Neeley is doing well learning that her mouth can hurt while playing, so she is using her paws more and more, instead. She really wants to please. Neeley has made vast improvements with controlling her level of play-she responds to commands and redirection techniques. But, when she reaches a certain level, separation is the best response so she has time to completely calm down. However, Neeley and her foster-sibling eat together, sleep together and walk together, very well. At this stage in her development, Neeley would be a perfect companion in a home with no other dogs. Neeley has seen cats from a distance and watched with non-reactive curiosity-but has not been cat-tested in a home setting. Neeley is great with her foster parent's 11 year-old grandson. She would do well living with children of this age. With her current excitability and desire for non-stop play, she should be closely monitored around younger children, and probably not with toddlers, yet. She walks and jogs well on leash, wearing a harness. She shows no signs of wanting to run or roam away from home-preferring to keep her people in sight. She has a need to know where everyone is and displays herding instincts. So, she will run to the door or to the truck, which she loves to ride in with her person. Neeley is housetrained and crate trained. She is trusted with free-run of the house, however separated from her foster-sibling when they are both home alone. Neeley has had only two 'chewing-incidents.' Neeley is already showing signs of athleticism-she loves to jump onto the picnic table [her look-out] and over benches. Baby gates have become indoor agility obstacles. Recently, she was introduced to a water-filled kiddie-pool. At first she didn't know what to make of it, but eventually she decided to jump in, slap at the water with her paws and bite into the water with her mouth. Neeley knows: Sit, Stay, Come, Off [as in, get off/down] and No. She is working on: Up, pretty, Down [as in, lay down] and Shake. Neeley is an eager to please, well-behaved, affectionate, joyful, playful pup. Her favorite toy is her ball, which she loves. She also loves her people. To apply to be Neeley's co-pilot, jogging partner, ball thrower, and cuddler extraordinaire, contact Potter's Angels Rescue. Rescue Me ID: 17-06-30-00053JOSIE (female)

Foxhound Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The Hebrew origin defines the name Josie as meaning, 'God will give.' Well, God has given us this incredibly adorable little girl. Josie is a 35 pound, 23-month-old hound who is spayed, micro-chipped and up to date on her vaccines. She has no ongoing medical issues and is not taking any medications. Josie's foster Mom has described her as a medium energy girl who is very loving, affectionate and well behaved. She is house and crate trained and does very well in her crate; it's her safe-haven. She's very good on a leash and seems to do well on a slip lead. Having hound tendencies and an innate desire to track she most likely would not do ... (Read More)well off leash. Josie loves her tennis balls and fetch is her game of choice. She has done very well with other dogs and has some basic commands down; sit, stay and come. As with any of God's creatures, Josie with the help of her humans is continually striving to improve upon her skills. She is a very submissive and fearful girl who is frightened very easily. Josie becomes overwhelmed when she feels she is cast into a leadership role. She would do best with a strong, confident leader who will establish rules, routines and boundaries. This will allow Josie the time to be a puppy, a dog with no worries; the time to build trust, confidence and the skills needed to succeed. Josie has had very little to no contact with children from their early teens on down. At this time, it is believed she would do best in a child and cat free home. The energy, excitement and general activity of children would be overwhelming and create a lot of anxiety for her and Josie tends to chase cats. So, if you're a strong leader who can establish and maintain boundaries while creating a safe productive environment Josie is the girl for you. In return; a best friend, a loyal companion, an exercise buddy; walking, hiking, maybe swimming or a game of fetch. Feel like kicking back relaxing and reading a book, not a better cuddle buddy anywhere aroundČ'Ř|Josie is your girl!     This Jasmine is more fitting of the Urban Dictionary definition: A beautiful unique girl who is incredibly fun and wise; loud and lots of spunk. Jasmine arrive in Vermont direct off transport with her two-3-week-old pups in tow. Rescued from a southern shelter, placed on transport with many other dogs, shuttled over a thousand miles to Vermont and taken from transport by her foster mom some 6 weeks ago; a frightening experience for any mom. Rescue Me ID: 17-06-30-00027Ryley (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Have you ever heard the expression: 'Living the life of Riley?' I had, and like most old quotes, this one had many possible origins, but it basically means, living the good-life. Our girl uses an alternate spelling: Ryley. Ryley is a 35lb 4 year-old female Boxer/Terrier mix. She is spayed, vaccinated and micro-chipped. Ryley is getting a taste of the good-life in her wonderful foster-home. Ryley is showing less anxiety when meeting new visitors, as well-she just avoids them and stays close by her trusted people. Ryley goes into her crate without incident or complaint, and is very quiet while there. She walks well on leash and responds very ... (Read More)well to instruction. 'In a nut-shell . . . I find her a true delight and VERY easy and enjoyable to have around.' Ryley is housetrained and crate-trained. She knows: Sit, Stay, Down and Come. She is affectionate, eager to please, well-behaved, playful and skittish. Her favorite toy is a tennis-ball; she loves to play fetch. She is also interested in chasing squirrels . . . kind of like the dog in the movie, Up! Ryley has lived with children before and has been fine with them. Ryley is crated at night and when her people are out. She is a very quiet girl. She is initially fearful of new people. When allowed to adjust on her own timetable, trust and affection grow. Ryley is a very sweet and affectionate girl and a wonderful companion. She is a very easy dog to have around: quiet, undemanding and eager to please. Ryley's ideal home would include a calm environment, patient people, a canine-companion, NO CATS, and a fenced-yard. Won't you please help Ryley to be 'living the life of Riley, . . .' the good-life by giving her a fur-ever home?
