Rescue Me ID: 17-02-03-00567Zelda (female)

Mastiff Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We'd like to introduce you to a beautiful girl named Zelda. She's a 3 year old, 69 pound pit/Mastiff mix who has spent the last three months working in a training facility. Zelda has been fully trained on a prong and E-Collar, and she has embraced these tools wonderfully. She's house trained and crate trained, walks well on her leash, and knows a plethora of commands. She knows sit, stay, place, come, crate up, down, heel, leave it, and wait. Zelda can play rough at times, and she does show interest in other animals, but she responds to 'leave it' and will listen. Zelda has lived with young children, and she is good with them. She is not a ... (Read More)loud girl, but if there is a lot of excitement around while she is in her crate, she might whine in response. Zelda is a powerful girl, and she is a strong girl-both in body and mind, and we know that she will do best with a strong and confident leader. Zelda is a very athletic and agile girl. She loves walks and enjoys playing with other dogs. She also enjoys the company of her people, and we are told she will 'melt' in your lap when you take the time to cuddle with her. Zelda is being re-homed through the training program at Good Dogma in Grafton, NH. Training will be provided to her new home free of charge. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-29-00018Molson (male)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

'He is incredibly sensitive and emotional. He likes touch to feel secure and build his confidence. He is absolutely an amazing dog; he is low energy, sleeps in bed with us through the night and is a lazy riser. The only issue is his need to be outside where he can run and not be worried about. He needs a fenced in yard so that he can enjoy himself.' says foster mom, of Molson, a 5 %BD year old Husky mix who weighs in at 75 pounds. With his dark, soft eyes, and his warm, furry, white coat, we think he's a very handsome boy! He has been fine with cats, but he has proven to be a selective of his canine companions, and because of that, we feel ... (Read More)he'd do best as a solo dog. We feel that he will do best in a home with older children. He is house trained, but he's not crate trained, and he also knows sit and shake.. Foster mom says that he's not destructive in the house, and other than a bit of secretive counter surfing'|he does like donuts'|he is a well behaved house guest. 'He is vocal like a husky; he cries at the doors and sometimes the windows, it's more of a talking than a barking and it's not loud enough to be bothersome. Sometimes it just sounds like he's saying mama. He's not vocal when left alone except right when we leave,' foster mom adds. 'When he got here he was very depressed. He's very sensitive and will definitely need time to adjust to being in a new home. Every single day he makes improvements. He now is so happy when we come home--he loves getting cookies and shaking paws, he wags his tail, he loves to get love and will put his head on yours and close his eyes and just take it all in. You can tell he is a very soulful and intelligent dog,' she says. She also wanted his potential adopters to know that he is a wanderer, so a fenced in yard would be ideal. He doesn't like being on a line. He has learned to walk well on a leash. He's a good learner, and even an 'old dog' can learn new tricks, if everyone is patient and kind. We think he will make an affectionate, low energy companion who will give back tenfold in loyalty when he bonds with his new family. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-28-00450John (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

At 11 months old and 46 pounds, John is a great size for a retriever mix. He's great with other dogs, and he does well with his foster mom's daughter. He hasn't lived with young children, but as a pup, we think he'd be okay with older children (he's a bit high energy, so he might knock a younger child down). He's learned sit, down, and wait for food. He's also doing great with his house training, he's working on his crate training, and he's making some marvelous strides with his leash walking. John is quiet in the house, and he isn't a big barker. He will whine in his crate when the family leaves for the day. John is very good at keeping ... (Read More)himself entertained, chewing bones and playing with toys, Foster mom says that she does keep an eye on him because he is still young, and he will chew on things he shouldn't. He will mouth and jump, but he responds well to the use of a spray bottle for correction, and that's a very good thing! He's affectionate, joyful, playful, and eager to please. He's a true puppy, ready to love and be loved! Foster mom says he's a great cuddle buddy, and he often will rest his head on her shoulder to be near. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-04-00047Heath (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Heath came to us in pretty rough shape, but after some TLC, you'd never guess this gorgeous, friendly, loveable creature had ever had a bad day! Heath, who foster mom says is as sweet as his name, is a lab mix who is roughly 40 pounds and between 8-10 months old. He's house trained and crate trained, but he needs some leash work. He sits and comes to his name, and foster mom says he hasn't met a dog or person he doesn't love. Foster mom doesn't have children, but she brings all her dogs to the dog park regularly, and she says that Heath is great with the kids he sees there. She says he's not nippy and he is a quiet boy at home. He might ... (Read More)whine for a minute in his crate, but he settles down quickly and rests. Heath loves to snuggle and cuddle, and we think he'd do well in a home with other dogs or in a home with plenty of human affection. Foster mom says that Heath has been wonderfully well behaved in the home. He loves to carry his toys around, and he settles down to rest quickly when he is tired out. He has a wonderful enthusiasm for life, according to foster mom, and she enjoys his joyful, affectionate greetings -and kisses every morning and when she returns from work. Heath-sweet as they come! Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This is Crew. Crew is a 50lb one %BD year-old male Pitbull-mix. He is neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. Crew is treat-motivated and knows, Sit. He is nibbler but, takes treats gently. Crew is an affectionate boy who enjoys long snuggles and being a couch potato. He really craves human companionship and easily forms a strong bond with his person. He is trusted with free roam when his person is out. Crew is very playful with other dogs, but wants to be the dominant one and doesn't always read social cues so if another dog acts like they don't want to play Crew might keep trying to engage them. Crew appears to be too interested in cats ... (Read More)to safely live with them. But, he met a baby at Christmas time and gave the baby kisses on its feet. We think Crew would do best in a calm predictable home with a set routine, clear boundaries and a confident leader. If you knew Crew like we know Crew, he would be your new best friend. Rescue Me ID: 16-11-16-00012LIZA (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Miss Liza. She is a people pleaser and is very eager to be with her people. Liza attaches quickly to her caregiver, and there are times that she needs to be reminded that she can have a life of her own! ;) She's learning that her people aren't going to disappear, and she can relax even if they aren't right there. Liza is a 4 year old, 52 pound retriever mix. She was treated for heart worm in the fall, and has been restored to full health. She's a high energy girl who loves to run, loves to walk, loves to play fetch'|loves to move! She is house trained, crate trained, and she walks well on a leash with a confident leader. She knows sit ... (Read More)and come, and she has an excellent recall (especially if you have a ball!), she also is very close to understanding 'stay.' She's very eager to play with other dogs, and can be a bit pushy so would do best with an equally playful dog of her size. Due to her excitability and strong desire to play with dogs, we are specifically looking for a home for her that does not have small dogs as we do not feel she would respect their boundaries. She lived with a cat in her foster home and did okay with that. Still proper and slow introductions are a must with the feline species! She hasn't spent any time with children, but with her high energy, we think that she will do best with older children. She would make an excellent hiking or running partner for an active owner. Foster mom says that she exercises Liza an average of an hour a day, and after that'|.Liza might think about resting! And you should know that Liza can be a very aggressive snuggler! She absolutely loves to cuddle, and the only nippiness the family has seen has come when she is kissing their ears and chin in her joy at being cuddled! She is learning the ropes of the house, and foster mom has been impressed with how much she has learned in such a short time. Liza is nothing if she is not a quick learner. Foster mom has been amazed at how eager Liza is to please the people of the house. If you meet Liza and see the affection, the eagerness to please, the joyful, playful, bouncy, fun loving girl she is, you will find that she is worth the bit of effort it may take to bring out the confident dog that's in there! Rescue Me ID: 16-11-03-00009Percy (male)

Newfoundland Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

'He is a joy. I have been so blessed to have him here, and I have no problem with him living his life out here, but by chance there's someone else out there that he can bond with, I want to give him that opportunity. To watch him learn to grow and trust, to be playful and silly with the dogs has been an amazing experience.. To see a dog that was so.shut down they (shelter staff) said he had no personality, come to life and enjoy it is something words can't describe..' We thought foster mom's words would be the best introduction. Percy came to us four months ago, snatched from death's door. He was so shy and fearful that he spent the first ... (Read More)stint of his stay at his foster home'|in the bathroom, huddled between the toilet and the tub. But, friends, that was four months ago, and with the patience of a saint and the gentleness of a nurse, foster mom (and her pack-- she would never leave them out!) have seen this gentle, shy, quiet, old soul come to life. Percy is a Newfoundland mix who is between 65-70 pounds. He's about 8 %BD years old, and he's house trained, just about crate trained, and walks well on a leash. He's a low energy guy who does suffer from skin allergies (controlled with food and prednisone) and a bit of arthritis. He's missing some teeth, and he hides from children'|.but'|.he LOVES other dogs! Foster mom is pretty sure her pack of three dogs has done as much for Percy as all the tender, loving care and good food have done for him. She would insist that Percy go to a home with dogs who will keep him company. He does love to walk and to play, and he's even started swimming in the pond at his foster home. He's not destructive and he's a bit of an independent fellow as far as a lot of human affection goes. Foster mom thinks that a patient, caring person could probably draw him even further from his shell, but she stresses the patient part. Percy has rewarded foster mom greatly for her efforts, but it was not a short process! He's no trouble, though, and his gentle, quiet temperament makes him a joy to have in the home. He's embraced all the foster dogs that have come and gone, and really, his new home will be the place where an old soul can put up their feet and enjoy the gentle walks and pleasant play of those golden years of life. Pit Bull    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Ello, Charlie here, so very pleased to make your acquaintance. I am a 50lb 2-3 year-old male American Pit Bull Terrier and I am neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. You might notice that I have a rather significant overbite that results from issues with my mandible and nasopharyngeal area and can cause some breathing difficulties from time to time. I have a prescription for two medications that I take only as needed-which is rarely. My people are happy to share more information with anyone interested in adopting me. It's just most important that I avoid becoming over-heated. I wear a 'Sense-ation' harness when walking. I have mastered, ... (Read More)'Sit,' 'Wait' and 'Down'. I sit and wait for my meals. So, now, I am learning, 'Leave It' and 'Off.' I am a happy puppy at heart. Sometimes, I am tempted by socks . . . but other than those wonderfully smelly garments, I don't bother my peoples' belongings. I do enjoy all manner of dog toys and chews. I like to play with them by myself, with people-friends, or with dog-friends, like me. My foster-sister, Libby and I are presently engaged in a never-ending war, called 'tug.' Even though people call it 'war,' its just play for us and we don't care who wins. I get along famously with quite a menagerie of dogs at my foster home . . . there is just one rather outspoken old man who is gruff with all of us, but I am learning to give him a wide-berth. Though no children live here, several visit regularly. They range from ages 8 to 14 and with slow respectful introductions I am very comfortable around them and rather enjoy being loved by them. I do recall that when younger children would rush at a dog I was frightened. When my people are away during the day, I stay in my crate. I complain a little at first, because I would much rather be with my people-friends or dog-friends, but I quiet down soon enough. I have been called, a lover and player, delightful, a sweet boy, and sometimes, a 'space-invader,' because I LOVE to snuggle. I am affectionate, eager to please and well-behaved. When I first meet new people, I can be a little standoffish-I do best if they just ignore me and allow me to approach them when I am ready. If you give me a little space when we first meet, I will be happy to 'invade your space' and give you love, if you let me.
